Pet care scheme and the chronic voucher scheme
The PDSA announced at the end of 2017 that they were closing the Pet Practice service scheme to new applicants but would continue to provide eligible clients that were already registered with the PDSA pet practice service on 1 December 2017 with the new PDSA pet care. At Cater Vets, we are continuing to work with the PDSA and are providing the new pet care scheme and the chronic voucher scheme.
Clients can register for PDSA Pet Care, through PDSA, by proving eligibility (council tax or housing tax benefits) on an annual basis and paying a monthly fee of £4.50. PDSA Pet Care clients can access the following benefits:
In addition, they will receive other benefits from PDSA including access to the PDSA helpline and a discount on PDSA insurance in the first year.
Clients can choose to pay the full annual cost (£54) or set up regular monthly payments (£4.50) to PDSA.
In addition, the PDSA chronic voucher scheme exists which is only available to clients registered with the practice on 1 December 2017 whose pets have been identified for Class A payments by the practice. As long as the client remains eligible for PDSA services, they will receive a book of vouchers every 12 months at re-registration, for the lifetime of their named pet.
The book contains 12 vouchers and each has a value of £25 which we will redeem against the treatment for the named chronic condition.
